Malaysia Unveils 3-Year Tokenization Roadmap to Pilot Real-World Asset Digitization
Malaysia's central bank, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), has launched a three-year initiative to advance tokenization of real-world assets, transitioning from conceptual frameworks to live pilot tests. The roadmap, developed in collaboration with the Securities Commission, establishes a Digital Asset Innovation Hub and an Industry Working Group to oversee projects ranging from SME supply-chain finance to Shariah-compliant and ESG-linked instruments.
Initial use cases focus on improving funding accessibility and settlement transparency for smaller enterprises. Proofs-of-concept will commence in 2026, followed by broader trials in 2027. Industry feedback on regulatory and technical designs remains open until March 2026.
